Medicine

Although the number of health facilities in the rural areas of East Africa is low, even the health centers that are in operation are not fully equipped with medicines and medical equipment.

Many pastoralists and farmers are unable to get the medicine prescribed for their illness after they undergo the necessary examination at the health centers, so they suffer for severe illness and death.

The drought in East Africa in 2021/22 exposed the community to water and food shortages, increasing the number of people seeking medical care.
Health centers that have been handling large numbers of patients during the drought have faced severe shortages of medicines. As a result, the information from the area indicated that many people died due to lack of medicine.

East African pastoralists and farmers need continuous support in the health sector. If it is not possible to immediately support health institutions with the development of human resources, medical equipment, and the supply of medicines, we will continue to hear the news that tells us the death of many people.

Apart from the lack of medicine and medical equipment, the lack of shelter has become the biggest problem for pastoralists and farmers who have been displaced from their homes due to drought and war.

Children and mothers are suffering from cold and heat. In the area where there are trees, some of them are sheltered under trees.

Hope and Help East Africa is working together with various aid organizations to address the shortage of medical equipment and drug supply in the rural areas of East Africa. We are also working with relevant aid agencies and local authorities to arrange temporary shelters for displaced people who have shelter problems.
Therefore, on behalf of the affected communities, we are calling on you to support East African health facilities that lack supplies of medicine and medical equipment, and to prepare temporary shelters for displaced people.

Those who want to provide financial support can do so through our website, and we would like to inform you that our partners who want to provide in-kind support for medicines, medical equipment, and temporary shelters can contact us through the form below.
